Happy 10th year old burfday dd!

HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY TO OUR LITTLE GUY DD... Even though you aren't so little any more... umur dah masuk 10 tahun but you are still my cheeky little boy..You have a temper like no other! If you don't get your way you say "tak nak bagii..takpelaahh and you would whined and threw tantrum like nobody's business!" it's super cute :) time masa kecik..tapie bila dah besar..it is not a pretty sight..Walaupun mama & dd selalu gaduhh..I just want u to know that I love u with all my heart!! Mama love it..bila tiap2 malam time nak tido Dd  would come to salam mama and asked me to kissy2 your cheek & forehead and give you a big bear hug..tu yang mama cair tuuu..tapie besok kita gaduh balik heheh..
On your 10th burfday thought of making another round of ice-cream cake with this little soccer guy as the cake topper tapie..rasanyer not a good idea sebab lily demam & at the same time Mama just realized the fondant boy punyer kaki sudaa tercabut. Penat mama & Dd mengentel fondant sesama thought of doing a soccer theme cake..nampaknyer you have to settle with this one homemade chocolate cake. As for birthday present... you already received a new white bike menggantikan old bike budak kecik yg dah  rusty from papa...other than that kita tunggu papa belanja makan. Mama punyer special wish to you this year ialah ...may you continue rajin dengan persekolahan and kurangkan geram, tantrum dan tingkatkan prestasi LOL..mama doakan yg terbaik untuk anak mama ...

Greek Baklava

This Baklava recipe was given by my friend Elisa Ho. She make the yummiest muffin in the world hahah..thinkin' of her muffin make me craving already.. umm...
okay back to baklava..

This recipe dessert can keep fresh in fridge for 1 week as long no syrup is added.  Bangsar Village selling baklavas at RM16.00 per 100gm haiyooo sgt mahal..The cheapest to make are the peanuts baklavas..

GREEK BAKLAVA (original source from Vogue Entertaining Magazine)

Ingredients: (Make about 24pcs)
3 cups walnuts/pistachios/peanuts/cashews/macadamias/pinenuts
or any type of nuts of your choice
6 tablespoons raw sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon powder
pinch of ground cloves
1 packet fillo pastry (PAMPAS brand, buy from Cold Storage)
melted butter
extra nuts (for sprinkling) Syrup:
2 cups water
½ cup honey
1 cup sugar
3 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
Method• Finely chop the nuts, then mix with sugar, cinnamon powder and ground cloves.
• Place 2 sheets of filo pastry on a flat surface and brush with melted butter. Spread the nut mixture across the width of the pastry, roll up tightly and brush with melted butter.
• Repeat with the remaining nut mixture and filo pastry.
• Place the rolls in a greased ovenproof dish, cut int diagonal pieces and bake in a preheated 190 degree Celcius oven for 45 minutes.
• Place all the syrup ingredients in a saucepan and cook over low heat , stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and cook over low heat until the mixture is syrupy. Remove from the stove and cool.
• When the baklava is cooked, remove the dish from the oven and pour the syrup over the baklava. Set aside to cool then serve sprinkled with chopped nuts.

Additional notes:
• You may wish to replace the syrup with golden syrup as it is less pungent with spices and needs no preparation. Just squiggle some golden syrup on top of the baked baklava the night before you plan to consume or as and when required.
• If need to reduce heavy smell of cinnamon and cloves, just use golden syrup(Can get 1 x 500ml bottle from “Bake with Yen” at RM 3.50)

• Try baking the baklava for 35 minutes, test to see if OK first. If not adequately browned, then bake another 5-10 minutes

GREEK ALMOND SHORTBREAD

Ingredients:
500g unsalted butter
¾ cup sugar
2 egg yolks
4 cups self-raising flour 2 cups crushed almonds
dash of brandy  * ni tak yah laa taruk heheh haramm*
1 teaspoon vanilla
icing sugar for sifting
Method
• Cream the butter and sugar with the eggs until light and fluffy, fold in the remaining ingredients and mix until well combined.

Awe~dorable handmade items...

received these adorable handmade items from our niece in States for her recycling projects at school. I always treasure handmade and totally in awe of her creativity. She sent about 6 pairs of  'rwandan style paper beads' earrings  and I took 2 pairs the rest already grabbed by her girl cousin hehe and lovin' it..oh! and the fossilized coral brooch was from her granny or fondly known as nanny sherry..so sweet! Thank you so much!!

homemade english muffin bread!


 I was cravin' for McDonald's big breakfast meals the other day..the famous Egg McMuffin, hasbrowns and black coffee..then.. I stumbled upon mamafami's fotopages on this muffin bread recipe and I tried and walaa! the roti bun turned out sebijik like McMuffin. The semolina flour 'suji' gives it a rough and pleasant texture. Here it is..homemade English Muffin Bread good for breakfast! yumm..thank you so much to mamafami's for sharing her yummy recipe..so jadik...so terima kasih..heheh. hot day and cool ice-cream!

Dd is begging for an ice-cream cake..so..this recipe is inspired from rachael ray's vids on homemade ice-cream.  It so easy to do and it's a hit and the whole family enjoys em'. Tastes like 'vienetta' ice-cream...but in appearance look like chocolate crumbles hahah. Whatever it is..the cake is soft and moist..the chocolate sauces become choc.fudge and in between bites sedappnyer rasa..oreos..so yummy and satisfying hehehe..tapie the caloriess...haiyooo..sekali-sekala tidak apa..

Recipe
1 tub vanilla ice cream (sukahati flavor apa2 pun boleh)
1 tube/packs of oreos cookies
half blocks of beryl's dark chocolates
2 tbsp of whipping cream
1 chocolate pound cake/ chocolate moist cake (you can either bake or store-bought) 

1 loaf baking tin 

Method:
1. Double boiled your chocolates together with the whipping cream. Bila semua dah melt set aside first.
2. Line your baking tin with plastic, then pour the chocolate sauce sikit2 dulu..then susun all your cakes slices. Then pour some of the chocolate sauce again..
3. scoop the vanilla ice-cream and cover the baking tin...
4. Topped with all the cakes slices again and repeat with oreos till finish.
5. Wrap it and let it cool in the freezer for a few hours. Then serve!

I heart chocolates!

made these dark chocolates nuggets 180 pieces for my sis 'aqiqah's occassion' recently.  I used a good quality dark chocolates from Beryl's.  Since ada extra chocolates..beli lebih for the kids..I made some chocolate lollipops for the candybuffet centrepiece. I heard from a friend kalau duduk near S.A we can actually purchase good quality compound chocolates kat Lembaga Koko Malaysia. They are giving a fair price for chocolate wholesalers. Will go to check it out..

Apple Raisins Tart!

red apples ada byk kat dlm fridge..yg suka makan apples only lily & dd. The rest kurang gemar tapie kalau potong habih jer. Adly kalau makan apples atau apa2 buah cam tuu mesti cicah dengan kuah rojak. Since byk lagi apples..we baked this simple apple raisins tart for afternoon tea utk makan, Recipe asal from Chef Anuar tapi sebab hazelnut takde stock we substitute it with almond nibbed and almond ground.  The taste is still yummy, soft, milky & moist.. Here are the recipe. Try laa..gerenti jadik! Hari ini mama a bit rajin so..that's why I attached the recipe here..for my future reference..hehehe.

Ingredients:
sedikit minyak masak (corn oil)
1 cmb serbuk kacang hazel (we use almond ground)
1 biji epal merah, dihiris
150gm butter
190gm castor sugar
5 biji kuning telur
31gm tepung serbaguna *
8gm serbuk penaik* ayak together
100ml fresh milk
70gm raisins
50gm gel fix apricot

Method:
1. dabbed/ greased some corn oil to your baking tin & then tabur all the ground nuts  
    after that baru susun all your hirisan apples. Ketepikan sekejap.   
2. Putarkan butter bersama gula. Masukkan sebiji demi sebiji kuning telur. 
    I added 1tsp vanilla essence (*optional)
3. Masukkan tepung yg berayak bersama serbuk penaik.
4. Masukkan susu dan putar sehingga sebati, akhir sekali masukkan raisins.
5. Then pour the batter on the apples tadi, ratakan dan bakar for 30 mins at 170 degree celsius. Keluarkan dari tin..sapukan gel fix apricot on the cake surface bila dah sejuk.

who's watching whom?



ini abang dd suruh jaga adik tidoo..dia pulak yg tidoo atas tilam..haiyaa!
Typical day at home waktu tengahari..

bila kemalasan melanda...

there are times when you are feeling lazy, not in mood..to play... with your pots and pans..grease and fire hahah..feelin hot & sweaty preparing meal kat kitchen for your loved ones...lets make roasted chicken..senang tak payah teruk2 cuci periuk belanga. Sumer boley prepare & prep in advance..the coleslaw, the whipped potatoes and the chicken. Sebab itu I always have on stand-by this thing...'Demi-glaced sauce' you save time bikin itu barbecue sauce or mushroom sauce..Just guna dlm 2--3 sudu, some water, some flour to make it thick.. panaskan dlm kuali, add some blackpepper & masukkan mushroom kalau nak mushroom sauce laa...ini ler ruper 'demi-glaced' sauce..brown, velvety  and rich yg penting sekali delicious!! Sekali beli mmg a bit pricey to me..tapie berbaloi... meaning you can make many2 plates for all kinds of chops dishes for your fish, beef, chicken etc..

This one is super easy haha cheating skett..readymade mix just add eggs & butter.
super delicious siap ada traces of orange peel. Boleh dapat dalam 25 pcs.

cuppies for the little ones tapie adults yang makan heheh..my younger sis insisted on a plain looking cuppies becoz' she doesn't like all the buttercream but I insisted on fondant..kalau tak makan boleh letak tepi..best pulak main fondant cam main playdough hehe it is so therapeutic.  I was so immersed with fondant that somehow all the noisiness by the boys..didn't bother me at all...kalau diorang start bising mulaalaa blood jadik skyrocketing tapie..ni takk...I was so calm kekeke.

Frugal ideas

Found this brilliant ideas from cakejournal the other day..how to make your own cupcakes stand.  I like frugal ideas that cost pennies but looks like a million bucks. Make this for my little nephew aqeeb on his recent majlis aqiqah.  Thank you to cakejournal for this cute ideas.  Time nih..this cupcakes stand belum siap completely..belum wrap with the coordinated blue colours. It can holds about 30 cupcakes at one time.

donuts...makes us nuts~

goreng this donut di satu petang..recipe cilok from the popular cooking forumer Cik Suria hence it is called donut suria.. kelakar..my donuts look like kuih keriaa on the outlook. .tapie the donuts bila makan was soft and light.  I'm a big fan of doughnuts (Big Apple & Jco) tapie kurang gemar doughnuts from Dunkin'.  Lagi satu I find it hard to keep the doughnuts perfect in shape..sewaktu menggoreng habih senget-senget hehehe..so..makan jerrlaa labuu..janji kenyang kekek.
